I’m still irritated at AMC for cancelling Talamasca, because it had a lot of potential. But it’s hard to stay irritated now that The Vampire Lestat trailer has dropped. From the start, Interview With The Vampire has been the one Anne Rice Universe series that AMC got exactly right from the start. Now they, excuse me Lestat, is taking things to the next level:
Rock star Lestat is coming, and he’s already got his boots on our necks. No offense to Stuart Townsend, who admirably tried to take on the role of rock star Lestat in Queen of the Damned, but Sam Reid channels Lestat in a way that no other actor could do.
I do wish that we could Sam Reid’s Lestat interact with Aaliyah’s iconic Akasha. I don’t think anyone could embody the spirit of the Queen the way she did. But this series has never had a bad casting, so I trust that Akasha will be more than a match for the Brat Prince.
I’m a little bummed that there are only a handful of episodes in this season, because I could watch an entire 22 episode season of Lestat being a rock diva. I hope they don’t rush this, because it’s such a huge storyline.
But based on their track record, I think this season is going to hit every note perfectly. Lestat’s rockstar era begins soon, on June 7th. So if you haven’t watched the first two seasons you better get caught up now. You can stream the first two seasons on AMC+.
