40 Thoughts About The Vampire Lestat Episode 6

The Vampire Lestat episode 6 somehow managed to cram an entire season’s worth of emotional damage into one hour of television. We got some long-awaited Loustat moments that were surprisingly tender, heartbreaking reunions, devastating betrayals, and an ending that completely shifted the trajectory of the season.

Honestly, there wasn’t enough time to emotionally recover from one scene before the next threw another emotional bomb. This episode did not give the audience a second to process before hitting them with someone else.

As for that ending… we all knew Louis and Lestat weren’t actually dying. The writers practically hung a giant neon sign over the earlier conversation about vampires surviving decapitation for a few hours. That wasn’t foreshadowing. It was the television equivalent of saying, “Hey, remember this? You’re going to need it later.”

What did surprise me was who swung the blades. Armand, Daniel, and Alex teaming up against Louis and Lestat? If the season finale is going to be more intense than this, I may need medication to get through it. But I have thoughts about this episode. So many thoughts.

 I absolutely loved Louis and Lestat’s scenes in this episode. If you’ve ever gone through a divorce or ended a long-term relationship with someone you truly loved, their scenes together were so relatable.

You only get that kind of connection after you’ve been through absolute hell together and somehow survived it. The anger has burned itself out. What’s left is honesty, regret, forgiveness, and a love that never really disappeared, even if the relationship did. Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson played every complicated emotion perfectly. But I have more thoughts about The Vampire Lestat episode 6:

1. Nice boots… If you were a goth club kid in the ’90s or early 2000s, you know exactly what the next line is.
2. No one likes a pouter, Alex.
3. Fifty thousand vampires in Montreal? Honestly, that tracks. The goth scene in Montreal has always been elite.
4. Kind of surprising Lestat still sleeps in a coffin when blackout curtains exist. Gotta respect an analog king.
5. Degrassi mention! I’m so old I watched the original in the late ’80s. I wanted to be Spike. Team Joey Jeremiah forever.
6. MERRICK IS COMING! Everybody stay calm. Actually, don’t.
7. A little commotion for the cloak, please. Lestat was genetically engineered to wear a long black cloak.
8. I’d absolutely join Cortland Mayfair’s book club. Questionable morals. Impeccable reading list.
9. I could watch Louis and Lestat bicker for an entire episode.
10. Anyone who’s ever stayed friends with an ex has had some version of this conversation.
11. This looks like the annual Vampire: The Masquerade LARP convention.
12. Ah yes… the Unholy Trinity has assembled.
13. These two are still catastrophically in love with each other, and literally everyone knows it except them.
14. Sheridan is objectively a terrible name.
15. Oh, did he, Daniel? Is that when he met Sophia? IS IT?
16. The banter this episode was absolute chef’s kiss.
17. Lestat has never entered a room normally in his entire immortal life.
18. They’re unpacking centuries of emotional baggage like they’re paying airline overage fees.
19. Bringing the boyfriend home to meet your emotionally unavailable mother. What could possibly go wrong?
20. This feels so intimate we shouldn’t even be watching. I feel like I owe these people privacy.
21. Lestat is Louis’ great love. End of discussion.
22. Jealous, Gabriella? Someone actually loves your son… and shockingly, it isn’t you.
23. Are those tears in their eyes… or am I just dehydrated from crying?
24. Daniel. My guy. How dare you?
25. ARMAND! YOU PETTY LITTLE GREMLIN.
26. Louis is way too calm. That’s the kind of calm that ends with several people dead.
27. Louis speaking nothing but facts.
28. Sorry I couldn’t react to this scene. I forgot how to breathe.
29. Sure, let’s summon Claudia’s spirit. What’s another trauma at this point?
30. MERRICK. Give me an entire season. I’ll watch every second.
31. Ghost Claudia came with receipts.

33. Delainey Hayles… I genuinely don’t have words. Give that woman every award.
34. No manipulation. No lies. No performance. Just brutal honesty. Finally.

36. Somebody just give these two a trailer in the desert already.
37. AMC really looked at this script and said, “How can we pack in MORE trauma?”

It’s hard to believe that was just one episode. I feel like I aged 20 years in that hour. And we still have the season finale next week. I’m not sure I’ll make it.

The Vampire Lestat Episode 7

It’s hard to believe we’re already heading into the season finale. Next week is The Vampire Lestat episode 7, “The Failures,” and after that, it’s over. At least for now.

AMC still hasn’t officially renewed the series, but there’s no way they can leave us hanging after whatever apocalyptic chaos is about to unfold at the concert. We’ve spent an entire season building toward the Great Conversion, and I refuse to believe they’re going to make us live in that cliffhanger forever.

Personally, I’m hoping next season adapts The Queen of the Damned because Sheila Atim is absolute perfection as Akasha. She has barely had any screen time and somehow already feels like the most powerful presence in the entire Immortal Universe. I need her full story, her rise, her reign, and all the glorious, terrifying chaos that comes with it.

But before we get there, we still have to watch the Great Conversion implode, find out who survives the concert, and see how Louis and Lestat recover from… losing their heads.

I’m equal parts excited, terrified, and already mourning the fact that this incredible season is almost over.
